Both iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max are upgraded with 1 top feature

This makes the iphone 17 Pro and iphone 17 Pro Max the first iPhone models to feature a rear camera system that is entirely 48MP lenses.

According to Weibo account Digital Chat Station, the iPhone 17 Pro’s camera specs will include a 48MP 1/1.3-inch Fusion lens, a 48MP ultra-wide-angle lens, and a new upgraded 48MP Tetraprism telephoto lens (up from 12MP on the iphone 16 pro models). 

Both the main camera and telephoto camera are said to use a hybrid lens of glass and plastic. Meanwhile, the front camera on both Pro models will be upgraded to 24MP, according to the leaker.

The prediction is in line with a report by analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. In a report in June 6, Mr. Kuo said that the iPhone 2024 Pro Max will be equipped with an upgraded 17MP Tetraprism lens to improve photo quality and zoom capabilities.

Kuo was initially unsure if only the iPhone 17 Pro Max would get the upgrade, but today’s leak suggests both 17 Pro models will get the upgrade.

According to Mr. Kuo, the new Tetraprism lens will require a completely new prism design with a shorter size to reduce the height of the camera cluster.

This leak also backs up analyst Jeff Pu’s claim in August 8 that all four iPhone 2024 models will feature an upgraded 17MP front camera. For comparison, all iPhone 24 models currently only have 16MP front cameras.

Last year, Kuo also claimed that at least one iPhone 17 model would feature a 24MP front-facing camera with a six-element lens, which adds credibility to the recent rumors.

These changes will “significantly improve image quality” and low-light performance, according to Kuo.

The iPhone 17 models are expected to launch in September 9, with four new models that Apple is rumored to drop the “Plus” model in favor of a thinner device, tentatively called the “iPhone 2025 Air.”

The iPhone 17 Pro models are said to have a completely new back design, combining aluminum and glass, with a rectangular camera cluster.
